We believe there is a strong cultural and educational imperative for pupils and students in Scotland to be able to read and listen to Scottish curriculum resources spoken using a high quality Scottish synthetic voice.

The Scottish Government has funded CALL Scotland to provide a Scotland-wide schools licence for 'Heather' - a high quality Scottish computer voice. A Scotland-wide license for Further Education colleges is provided by the JISC Regional Support Centre Scotland North and East.

Heather is free to Scottish schools, colleges and their support services and pupils or students can also install the voice on home computers.

What is the Scottish Voice and why should I use it?

Heather is free to Scottish schools, colleges and their support services such as Local Authorities.

Complete the 'home use' form and post it back to us.

Don't worry, help is here in the form of FAQs.
